Man Booker Covers

This series of book jackets was designed to refocus appreciation on the content of the novel, to create a truly functional object.

The covers are literally the first page of the book, which when turned immediately goes to the second page. The publisher in-print, reviews and other non-essential information outside the book’s story content can be found printed on a bookmark that is bound and perforated into the book. The minimal design approach has a carefully selected, informative quote taken from a character from the story, printed on the back cover, essentially removing the need for any form of synopsis, interpretation or opinion.

Page edges are coloured to match the spine, conceptually suggesting a link with the content of the novel. With this series, one really is forced to judge a book by its cover.
